Skiers and Snowboarders
The Zell am See–Kaprun region is one of the most attractive ski regions in Austria. Three ski areas with a total of 138 kilometres of slopes offer skiers and snowboarders all types of variety. World class ski fun is offered on the Schmittenhöhe mountain. Even the ride up in the Porsche Design gondolas is an exclusive pleasure. The seamless network of 26 cable car lifts and lifts ranges up to 2000 metres and connects 77 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes.
And as of now, our guests can reach the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn directly from the Maiskogel valley station, only a few minutes’ walk from the Hanslhof guesthouse!
Ski fun for the whole family
With professional kids’ ski schools, the region of Zell am See-Kaprun scores with parents and kids. While the adults carve turns worry-free on the slopes, the kids are taken care of by trained children's hosts. Kids’ ski schools offer programmes for any age. In the Junior Club of the Schmittenhöhe mountain, the holiday dragon Schmidolin spreads good cheer with games and competitions. And you can get your ski tickets here at the reception – no queueing and waiting at the till of the lift.
And if you want to get to the glacier on the Kitzsteinhorn with the whole family – the Maiskogelbahn ski lift will whisk you up there, only a few minutes’ walk from the Hanslhof guesthouse!
Nordic skiing – classic and skating – in the Alps
Nordic skiers can really get in stride on 40 kilometres of perfectly groomed tracks. The Nordic areas range from the Höhenloipe trail on the Schmittenhöhe mountain to an eleven-kilometre-long circuit along the frozen Lake Zell. The connection to the 200 km long Pinzgau and Saalachtal track network opens up boundless gliding pleasure for lovers of long distance. Night owls can enjoy the 12 km of illuminated trails in Zell am See-Kaprun.
Winter sports at a more relaxed pace
On quiet soles, hikers, snow-shoers, and Nordic walkers can move through the winter landscape and experience nature up close. About 40 km of cleared trails lead through the picturesque mountain landscape in Zell. Tobogganing has been a winter classic in the Zell am See–Kaprun region since time immemorial. Fun is always with you in the racy ride between the Kitzsteinhorn and Schmittenhöhe mountains. The “Maisiflitzer”alpine coaster on the Maiskogel mountain is one of the highlights in the region. Or just take it easy during a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
